The Foundation of Environmentally-Friendly Green Buildings was founded with the purpose of contributing to the development of the Turkish construction industry in the light of sustainable principles. In 2007, under the leadership of our founding chairman Ali Nihat GÖKYİĞİT, 25 founding members were gathered together such as Ali Nihat Gökyiğit Yatırım A.Ş., Tekfen Emlak Geliştirme Yatırım ve Ticaret A.Ş., Tekzen Pazarlama İth. İns. Malz. Yat. A.Ş., and Tema Economic Company etc. Today it is supported by 100 members. In our time when ecological problems have multiplied, the Foundation of Environmentally-Friendly Green Buildings is acting on the belief that through buildings and settlements built with a holistic approach and ecological sensitiveness we will reach more healthy habitats.
The foundation organizes training activities, developing example projects, and working models with all the area’s stakeholders, such as local governments, universities, etc., and making efforts to increase their popularity with the purpose of increasing social awareness and encouraging the construction industry for producing in the light of these principles.
Systems that assess buildings and settlements according to their environmental impacts are effective tools in the targeted green transformation process. The Foundation monitors national and international developments in this area. In June 2012 the Foundation of Environment-Friendly Green Buildings earned “World Green Buildings Council (WGBC) Full Council Status” and continues efforts to develop the green building infrastructure movement with increasing participation.
