With the utmost importance given to the welfare of animals, our principle is that our goats are happy; hence the name Happy Goats Farm. This is the first semi-open ovine farm in Gökçeada and produces ISMO-certified organic goat milk. It is also a leading and example farm for organic goat milk production.

Happy Goats Farm started as a social responsibility project and is approaching its target step by step. The project was launched under the instruction of Honorary Chairman of TEMA Foundation, Mr. A. Nihat Gökyiğit, for the forestation of Gökçeada’s naked hillsides. In order for the forestation efforts to be successful, the stray husbandry in the island had to be replaced by a semi-open stable husbandry model. Mr. Murat GİGİN was responsible for the project. The project’s target was to give breeding animals, technical support, and training to voluntary farmers and to show that raising milk goats in stables is a more comfortable and profitable husbandry model so that the people would give up the free husbandry model and construct forestation vineyards and garden facilities in areas freed from the pressure of animal grazing.

Until the year 2007 no voluntary farmers could be found, so, with technical consultancy support from Çanakkale Faculty of Agriculture in 2007, 100 female Saanen race goats were purchased and sample goat raising was launched. Breeding animals and technical support were still being given to the farmers, albeit less, and the number of animals increased in time. In 2011, the current modern facility was constructed near Uğurlu village. As we believe that our goats are very happy in their new organic shelters, we named our farm Happy Goats Farm.
Now the people of the island began to learn from Happy Goats Farm how to raise dairy goats, and received breeding animals, technical knowledge, and veterinary support. They saw that if they produced organic milk they could evaluate it at the facilities of Ekozey, which is one of our group companies. The project will reach its target slowly, and viniculture and fruit-growing will begin on the hillsides which will be liberated from grazing pressure, and the island will obtain a greener appearance.
