With the utmost importance given to the welfare of animals, our principle is that our goats are happy; hence the name Happy Goats Farm. This is the first semi-open ovine farm in Gökçeada and produces ISMO-certified organic goat milk. It is also a leading and example farm for organic goat milk production.
Happy Goats Farm started as a social responsibility project and is approaching its target step by step. The project was launched under the instruction of Honorary Chairman of TEMA Foundation, Mr. A. Nihat Gökyiğit, for the forestation of Gökçeada’s naked hillsides. In order for the forestation efforts to be successful, the stray husbandry in the island had to be replaced by a semi-open stable husbandry model. Mr. Murat GİGİN was responsible for the project. The project’s target was to give breeding animals, technical support, and training to voluntary farmers and to show that raising milk goats in stables is a more comfortable and profitable husbandry model so that the people would give up the free husbandry model and construct forestation vineyards and garden facilities in areas freed from the pressure of animal grazing.
